Seppo Nevalainen

Karelia University of Applied Sciences
Lecturer

I am a Lecturer in the Business Information Technology degree program at Karelia University of Applied Sciences, and my main teaching interests are in artificial intelligence and game programming. My current research activities focus mainly on the utilization of learning analytics in higher education. My previous research work investigated the role of the psychology of programming when developing visualization techniques for introductory programming courses in higher education.

The internationalization of education in all its forms is close to my heart. My portfolio includes more than 10 international and national projects that have been covering topics such as organizing multidisciplinary and multicultural intensive programs, developing education through the use of learning analytics, and designing course structures that include constant internalization elements.

As a countermeasure for the fact that I spent most of my working hours surrounded by and immersed in digital technology in various forms, during my free time I regularly prefer to escape into the beautiful and vast untamed nature of Finland, leaving all possible technical progress behind for a while.
