Athens, 28 November 2025 — INVEST participated in the national event “Greek HEIs in European Alliances: Challenges and Next Steps,” hosted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens at the historic Propylaea.
Representing the University of Thessaly (UTH) within INVEST, Nicholas Samaras (INVEST Local Coordinator at UTH) outlined the alliance’s main strategic axes—regional impact and sustainability, joint educational offers, research and innovation collaboration, and strengthened governance across partners.
Omiros Iatrellis presented the INVEST Digital Ecosystem, highlighting three operational pillars now serving the alliance community:
- the INVEST Virtual Campus (collaboration, courses, study workflows),
- the Micro-credentials Platform (Open Badges for portable skills),
- EDUC8EU (explainable academic & career advising),
- the Centre of Excellence platform (research clustering, projects, and dissemination), and
- the Open Science platform (open data, publications, and reproducible practices).
The forum focused on joint programmes and accreditation pathways, governance and support structures (including Digital Campus models), Centres of Excellence and skills ecosystems, as well as sustainability and national–EU synergies.
INVEST and UTH are at the forefront of this dialogue in Greece, working with partners and national bodies to translate the European Universities vision into concrete services, quality frameworks, and learner-centred opportunities.
