In a world saturated with information, the ability to think critically has never been more essential. In this webinar, Dr. Kristián Čechmánek explores the foundations of critical thinking, focusing on how formal and informal logical fallacies shape — and often distort — our reasoning. Participants will learn to identify common fallacies such as confirmation bias, post hoc ergo propter hoc, false dilemmas, ad hominem attacks, and slippery slopes, gaining practical tools to recognize faulty arguments in everyday life, media, and professional contexts.
Beyond logic, we will also explore the deeper evolutionary roots of irrational thinking and behavior. Why do humans tend toward cognitive biases, groupthink, and emotional decision-making, even when it contradicts reason? By examining the interplay between our evolutionary psychology and our modern decision-making environment, we uncover why irrational tendencies are not accidents of thought, but adaptive features of our past that can mislead us today.
The session combines theoretical insight with practical application, empowering participants to sharpen their analytical skills, question assumptions, and navigate complex discussions with clarity and confidence.
