Who has the ownership to my research? How to share my research data openly?
INVEST offers an easy opportunity to learn the fundamentals of open science via monthly morning coffees. Take a cup of coffee, and join us online for 30 minutes to learn about open publishing, IPR, data management, open learning, research ethics and data protection.
INVEST Open Science morning coffee series will be held through the academic year 2022-2023 (6 events in total). By attending the whole series of six events, you will have a possibility to earn an INVEST Open Badge in Open Science to demonstrate your skills. In your registration for the event, you will be asked, if you wish to earn the badge. If yes, you will be asked to study short pre-reading materials, and to submit a short exercise for each session.

The open science experts Kaisa Varis and Pekka Malvela from Karelia UAS will introduce you to the world of open publishing through a set of practical examples. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions during the morning coffee.

Who owns your research?
What do you need to know about ownership of the research results as a student, researcher, project manager or principal investigator? Lawyer Annamari Turunen (Karelia UAS, and University of Eastern Finland) will share her insights on ownership of research results. In higher education institutions, we obtain different types of results, such as knowhow, patents, methods or documents, and we need to know a) who owns them, and b) what are the cases when transfer of rights processes are needed.

Research integrity is not limited to the conduct of research, but applies to all activities. It relates both to data protection and to general integrity, to fair sustainable practice. During the morning coffee, Tarja Kupiainen will present the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity TENK’s Code of Practice on Research Integrity. Above all, we will focus on the ethical principles of research involving human subjects.
