INVEST PARTICIPATED IN THE II FORUM OF UNIVERSITIES FOR THE FUTURE OF EUROPE IN BARCELONA

The INVEST Alliance participated on 14th and 15th September, 2023 in the II Forum of Universities for the Future of Europe, organized by the Spanish Ministry of Universities in Barcelona within the framework of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event gathered together members of all the Alliances of the European Commission’s initiative of European Universities. Since it was first launched in 2017, the European Universities Initiative has brought together 50 alliances, pulling together over 430 higher education institutions from 35 different countries, and a total of 1,700 associate partners.
INVEST alliance was honored to attend this important forum, represented by Prof. Lucia Palšova and Dr. Norbert Floriš from the Slovak University of Agriculture (Coordinator of INVEST project), and Prof. Mariana Ivanova from the University of Agribusiness and Rural Development in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (INVEST partner institution). They also had a series of meetings, including one with Prof. Odysseas Zoras, Secretary-General for Higher Education, who represented the Greek Minister of Education.
Among the discussion topics were the Legal status of the Alliances and the European Degree label, as well as Monitoring Framework for the EUI, Transformative Potential & Challenges for National Governments and institutions, Financial sustainability and coherence of the European Universities Initiative with EU and Member States’ policies, European Quality Assurance and automatic recognition system, etc.
This forum marked a significant step toward a more integrated higher education system in Europe, offering promising opportunities for the participants in the university initiative!
