The University of Thessaly team started the new year with a warm and joyful gathering, following a beloved Greek tradition: the cutting of the Vasilopita, the New Year’s cake.

In Greece, the Vasilopita is more than just a cake—it is a symbolic tradition that marks the beginning of the year. A coin is hidden inside, and when the cake is cut and shared among the team, the person who finds the coin is considered especially lucky for the year ahead. It is a moment of togetherness, good wishes, and positive energy for the months to come.

This small celebration gave us the opportunity to reflect on our collaboration, strengthen our team spirit, and look forward with optimism to the new year and our shared goals.

On behalf of the University of Thessaly team, we would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, with health, success, and many inspiring achievements in 2026!
