On 23–24 March 2026, representatives of the INVEST European University Alliance, Hélène Goeury and Essaid Ait Barka, participated in the Fourth Franco-Dutch Strategic Dialogue on European University Alliances, held in The Hague, Netherlands.

The event brought together key stakeholders from across Europe and served as a platform for exchanging good practices, fostering collaboration, and contributing to the future development of European University Alliances. The programme included panel discussions and interactive workshops addressing strategic priorities for higher education and research in Europe.

Participants included representatives from the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR), Nuffic, Campus France, as well as the French and Dutch Ministries of Higher Education and Research. In total, the dialogue gathered 37 higher education and research institutions at the European level, alongside representatives from 23 European University Alliances.

Over the course of the two-day event, discussions focused on key topics shaping the future of the European higher education landscape, including:

  • science diplomacy,
  • the long-term sustainability of alliances,
  • micro-credentials,
  • the Union of Skills initiative,
  • European competitiveness,
  • and the European Degree Label.

The dialogue provided a valuable opportunity for the INVEST alliance to engage with European partners, exchange insights, and contribute to ongoing discussions on strengthening collaboration and innovation in higher education.

The event concluded with a strong forward-looking perspective, reinforcing the importance of European University Alliances as key drivers for integration, innovation, and competitiveness in Europe.
