APPLICATION PERIOD OPEN: INVEST BACHELOR SPECIALIZATION STUDIES AT KARELIA UAS
The application period for INVEST Bachelor Specialization studies hosted by Karelia University of Applied Sciences, Finland, is now open. These international specialization programmes offer Bachelor’s level students an opportunity to deepen their expertise in sustainability‑related themes while studying in an international learning environment in Joensuu, Finland.
Karelia UAS currently hosts two INVEST Bachelor Specialization programmes, each worth 60 ECTS credits and designed primarily for 3rd and 4th year Bachelor students from relevant academic backgrounds. Students may also apply for one semester (30 ECTS) depending on their study plans.
Sustainable Communities in Energy Transition (60 ECTS)
The Sustainable Communities in Energy Transition specialization focuses on community‑level solutions for renewable energy and sustainable development. The programme equips students with the skills to facilitate inclusive energy transitions, address unsustainable practices, and develop community‑specific proposals that support a just transition toward sustainability.
The studies are suitable for Bachelor students from a variety of backgrounds, including engineering, environmental sciences, business, and management. Graduates gain competences in energy policy, applied research, community energy solutions, and participatory development processes.

Forestry Adaptation to a Changing Environment (60 ECTS)
The Forestry Adaptation to a Changing Environment specialization addresses the challenges that climate change and increasing societal demands place on forests and forest management. The programme provides student
s with knowledge and practical skills related to sustainable forestry, biodiversity, carbon balance, and adaptive forest management practices.
This specialization is aimed primarily at Bachelor students in forestry and related environmental sciences who are interested in understanding future‑oriented forest use in a European and international context.
